Hydrologic Sestina was inspired by a rainy walk on 5th avenue in sunset park, Brooklyn, on the night of the mid-term elections.
Contrasting mundane moments of everyday life in this primarily latino community with the unfolding high stakes political activity, the poem is textured by weather patterns that remind us to look through a macro lens and be critical about human power-hoarding.
A "sestina" is a french poetic form that repeats the end words of the first stanza in different orders throughout the subsequent five stanzas.
